#Singapenn wish to all of our respected women Happy Women’s day đ
This yearâs International Womenâs Day is like no other. As countries and communities start to slowly recover from a devastating pandemicwe have the chance to finally end the exclusion and marginalization of women and girls. But to do that, we need immediate action. Women must have the opportunity to play a full role in shaping the pivotal decisions being made right now as countries respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic â choices that will affect the wellbeing of people and the planet for generations to come.To do this, we must break down the deep-seated historic, cultural, and socio-economic barriers that prevent women from taking their seat at the decision-making table to make sure that resources and power are more equitably distributed. For instance, across the world, women remain concentrated in the lowest paid jobs, many in extremely vulnerable forms of employment. Women are nearly twice as likely than men to lose their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis. Indeed, the pandemic will dramatically increase the poverty rate for women and widen the gap between men and women who live in poverty. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is working with countries across the globe to address these inequalities. Our eye-opening new policy brief explores how a Temporary Basic Income for women in developing countries could provide part of the solution. UNDP argues that a worthwhile monthly investment of 0.07 per cent of developing countriesâ GDP could help 613 million working-aged women living in poverty to absorb the shock of the pandemic. It would also contribute to the economic security and independence that is necessary for women to engage more deeply in the decisions that could change their future
UNDP statement for woman’s day
#She is stronger than others think about her. Hence proved by lots and lots of women. at current scenario #Jacinda Ardern #Angela Merkel are some examples who handled this pandemic very brilliantly and better than men. When women lead, we see positive results.
Every year on March 8th was International Womenâs Day, we all knew that and we celebrate, we wish our women but why?? 𤅠did we really realised the purpose of woman’s day. I think we didn’t đ but on this post I’m not going to talk about that.
Theme of this year International Womenâs Day
Every year women’s day celebrations will have a theme. This year, the theme for International Womenâs Day (8 March), âWomen in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world,â celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the gaps that remain.
Womenâs full and effective participation and leadership in of all areas of life drives progress for everyone. Yet, women are still underrepresented in public life and decision-making, as revealed in the UN Secretary-Generalâs recent report. Women are Heads of State or Government in 22 countries, and only 24.9 per cent of national parliamentarians are women. At the current rate of progress, gender equality among Heads of Government will take another 130 years.
Oops, sounds bad đł 130 years….I was surprised by that survey. not just surprise it’s gave me some points to think đ¤. We are living in a modern technology world. We have developed by all the sides in our lifestyle. for a example we are not living in the forest, we are not wearing leaves as a dress and we are using smart machines which is smarter than the inventor, but… Why we are still following the old myths on women??
There are lots of women proved they are not less than men. Just turn back to the history, you can see the achievements which done by them. This pandemic also proved that, as I told before.
Especially young women, are at the forefront of diverse and inclusive movements online and on the streets for social justice, climate change and equality in all parts of the world.Yet women under 30 are less than 1 per cent of parliamentarians worldwide.
This is why, this yearâs International Womenâs Day is a rallying cry for Generation Equality, to act for an equal future for all. Let’s have the hope for good changes for great future.
Women of the world want and deserve an equal future free from stigma, stereotypes and violence; a future thatâs sustainable, peaceful, with equal rights and opportunities for all. To get us there, the world needs women at every table where decisions are being made.
Happy Women’s Day for all our #Singapenns(Lionesses) âď¸đđđđź
